Steps

  1. Visualize. Before jumping, close your eyes and imagine yourself exploding upwards. Visualize yourself with large leg muscles that are tightened like springs, ready to blast you up into the air. Say to yourself "I feel myself getting more powerful and much lighter." Then jump again. You should observe a noticeable increase in your vertical leap

  3. Swing your arms up forcefully. Before jumping, keep your arms at your sides. As you jump up, swing your arms up with power, timing it so that your arms are stretched upwards when you reach the peak of your jump. The momentum generated by the force of your arms help you go higher. This can improve your vertical leap by 15%.

  5. To increase your upper body's vertical boosting power, do a plyometric version of the Viking throw. Throw the ball into the air, slightly higher than your head. Catch it with your hands slightly higher than your navel, and immediately hurl it as fast and as forcefully as possible over and behind your head.
